Sebastian Sim was born in Singapore and is of Peranakan descent.  He converses with ease in English, Mandarin and Malay.  An extrovert by nature, Sebastian is naturally humorous and quick-witted.  He holds true to his Sagittarian star sign of having the innate ability to thrive on stage.  

 

A people-oriented individual boasting of a fun and spontaneous style of communication, Sebastian is a regular face on the events circuit, having hosted a wide repertoire of events that include national events like the National Day Parade 2005 Carnival @ Marina and Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore.  Regardless of the scale of the event, from cozy birthday parties to company functions and international conferences, Sebastian possesses the versatility to connect with audiences of all walks of life and make any event a personable and memorable experience for all. 

 

Sebastian’s break into television came when he landed a supporting role in the telemovie ‘Coffee on Cream’, part of MediaCorp TV’s ‘Love Matters’ anthology.  ‘Coffee on Cream’ received a nomination for ‘Best Single Drama or Telemovie’ at the Asian Television Awards 2002.

 

Within a year, Sebastian landed roles in a considerable number of productions for MediaCorp TV’s Channel 5 including ‘Heartlanders 2’, ‘Restless’ and the critically acclaimed ‘The Singapore Short Story Project’ on MediaCorp TV12’s Central.  In addition, he has been cast in several docu-dramas including ‘True Courage’, which hit record ratings.  Sebastian has also landed his fair share of lead roles like in the telemovie ‘Birthday Party’, which premiered for MediaCorp TV’s ‘No Place Like Home’ anthology.

 

Other productions Sebastian’s been cast in include 3 successful seasons of ‘Whizzes Of The Void Deck’ and ‘We Are R.E.M’ on MediaCorp Kids Central and ‘Phua Chu Kang’ and ‘Oh Carol’ on MediaCorp TV’s Channel 5.  On top of that, Sebastian has worked on several short films including ‘Bipolar’, which debuted at the Commonwealth Film Festival in Manchester, England.  He also made a cameo appearance in Raintree Pictures’ 2008 feature film ‘The Leap Years’ and was cast in another feature film ‘Homecoming’《笑着回家》in 2011.  Sebastian was also cast in Singapore’s 1st TV Musical Series on MediaCorp Kids Central titled ‘School House Rockz’, as well as its sequel, ‘School House Rockz – The Telemovie’ on Okto channel. Sebastian has also ventured into the Chinese market with supporting roles in MediaCorp TV’s Channel 8 productions ‘C.L.I.F.’《警微天职》and ‘Stranded’《荒岛冒险记》.  More recently, Sebastian broke into the Malay community with supporting roles in MediaCorp TV’s Suria production ‘Tiga Dara Metropolitan’ and ‘Kelas Detention’.

 

Sebastian has also stamped his mark on radio when he became the programme director for one of Singapore’s top 10 English radio stations, Power98FM.  For 7 years, Sebastian concurrently helmed the station’s top-rated evening drive time show ‘Power Cruisin’’ as well as ‘Own Time Own Target’, a show dedicated to servicemen in the armed forces.  Sebastian has established himself as a creditable voiceover talent, having voiced commercials and provided narration for numerous reputable international brands like Alfa Romeo, 20th Century Fox, Columbia Tristar Pictures, Nokia, DBS, Subway Restaurants, Pizza Hut and McDonald’s.

 

Another milestone is Sebastian’s foray into television hosting when he was engaged as the anchor presenter for the Carlsberg Euro 2008 Preview, a daily highlights and preview sports programme for the 2008 European Football Championships, on Starhub TV.  Sebastian then became the face of Starhub’s Football Channel when he anchored the channel’s daily football news program FC Daily on the European, American, Japanese and Singapore football leagues.  On top of that, Sebastian presented a weekly magazine show on Supersports Arena for Starhub’s coverage of Singapore's local sports scene.
